Belgium may be famous for its waffles, chocolate and beer but there’s a lot more than that to experience here, especially in the country’s capital city, Brussels. Best Time to Visit Brussels




As is with most of the rest of Europe, Belgium sees quite a variation between temperatures during the summer and winter months. It is; therefore, best to visit Brussels between the months of March and May or September and October, when the weather is the most temperate. This time of the year does, however, see huge tourist footfall and can therefore be a crowded time in the city, especially at tourist attractions. That being said, the best time to visit and soak up the Belgian festivities is during the first 2 weeks of September as the city of Brussels hosts the Eat! Brussels Food Festival from the 11th to the 14th of this month. Due to the sharp changes in hotel and Travel prices through the year, it is advisable to decide a few months in advance and carefully note the prices beforehand.

Brussels is a city that plays host to dozens of great places and structures to see making it a good idea to decide beforehand what one would like to do for a regret free trip back home. Right at the tippy-top of the vacation guide would have to be Cinquantenaire. This huge park has some excellent architectural pieces to marvel at, as well as military museums to take a long walk through and really get a sense of Brussels’ history. Another important structure to see is Atomium, a huge metal structure shaped like an atom which towers over a 100 meters high.  The Musical Instrument Museum and Mini- Europe are also locations that are definitely worth adding to the journey guide.

As stated above, the Brussels food festival can be an important deciding factor in the timing of your Belgian vacation and it is definitely an experience worth moving the dates around for. Another almost absolutely essential experience is the Belgium Comic Strip Center which is housed in the Art Nouveau building and pays tribute to the great comic art creators of the yesteryears. Note of course that this may not seem like an experience for everyone but Belgium is huge on comic book culture and this center is a true testament to the city’s love for the same. Another great experience to add to your vacation is a show at the Royal Theatre of Toone which is a puppet theatre that is sure to delight and enthrall audiences of all ages. Another festival to consider making the trip for is the Brussels Film Festival which takes place in the second half of June and showcases some of the finest in independent filmmaking.

What to Eat in Brussels



This list would not be complete without mentioning the food one can eat in Brussels and possibly the most important thing to remember when in the city is that you can choose to eat in a high end restaurant but the real delights of flavor of the city is in its junk food. From waffles of every kind and topping to French fries and that delicious Belgian beer, this food is made to be eaten throughout the day at short intervals to really satisfy your hunger because you will want more every time. Another few dishes to try are the Carbonnades Flamandes and Moules-frites (Mussels) which are both hearty meals in themselves.

  3. Great Article. I agree that Belgium is just not about waffles, chocolates & beer. It has so much in store than one can ever dream of. I came across a blog on Belgium visa site & found that renowned Tomorrowland music festival is scheduled to take place in Belgium this year. I am looking forward to visit this remarkable dance & music festival.
